Basics

For Cleftstick alumni…

For participants of earlier courses back for refreshers: If you can't find the page you're looking for in the menus above and along the side, try entering a search term in the search box. The menus and sub-menus are reconfigured for individual classes, so that topics not covered don't crowd out the ones that will be. But the pages are still there.

Browser Add-Ons

Add-ons, or extensions or plug-ins (they’re more or less the same thing), let you make your browsing more productive.

Add-ons may

  • let you view non-HTML content (such as Adobe Acrobat documents or YouTube video) inside the browser
  • let you add or organise content more easily
  • enhance security
  • access content from web-pages more easily
  • change the appearance of your browser

Usually they’ll appear somewhere at the top of your browser window, like this:

Or at the bottom of the window like this:

Some add-ons come pre-installed with the browser.

You can find a list of add-ons for Firefox here.
